Vader in ANH versus the rest of the movies is fun. I saw a tweet once along the lines of in ANH he's the Emperor's strange Rasputin like friend that's hanging around and the rest of the Imperial officers just kinda have to put up with him, even though they think he's just a weirdo. Versus in ESB and ROTJ he's more of an overbearing middle manager.
