I've always considered Keanu's casting in that to be the best use of a bad actor ever. Gary Oldman is excellent in his own right, of course, but he frickin' pops next to Keanu. I'm convinced that was entirely intentional. Coppola knew what he was doing.

This is a really interesting take that I like a lot. Keanu really LOOKS the part though and I've always wished he'd done a better job, but considering he doesn't have much range and Coppola probably knew this, I think your take is on the money.

Did Mina know John was in a vampiric orgy for those months? I’m not sure it’d be something he’d talk about, especially to his fiancé

I used to be a Lugosi or Bust type of Dracula movie fan, but this one is really good, especially in light of the fact that of all the vampire movies that have been made, so few of them are actually good.

I don't remember if the connection between Dracula's wife and Mina was made in the novel or not, but BSDracula was the first movie I remember seeing that connection used in and it's a good one that actually humanizes Dracula in a way.

The closest I’ve come to seeing this movie is when the Simpsons had Mr. Burns dressed up like Dracula for one of the Halloween episodes. That said, Gary Oldman is an amazing actor- truly a chameleon.

P.S. Is it bad that I immediately knew you were talking about “Rush Rush?”

I'm not surprised you immediately knew Paula Abdul had entered the chat, but I am impressed.

100% true story that I absolutely didn't just make up: The "Forever your Girl" record was written about me. Most of "Spellbound" as well.

If I recall correctly, there's a brief scene of Dracula walking the streets of London, looking around in awe at everything. I always thought that was a neat touch the filmmakers made. Dracula is somebody from the Medieval age walking into a modern city with modern tech like electric lights and so forth, so naturally he'd be amazed.
